LEGACY GIVING

Perhaps you believe strongly in our values but are simply not able to support us with a financial contribution at this time. Why not create a gift now to go to CWLF in the future?

The Catholic Women’s Leadership Foundation (CWLF) exists to equip women leaders for service in the church and beyond. The continuance of leadership programming for Catholic women in Canada will be possible by thoughtfully planned generosity from people like you! Your gift makes programming possible for educational leader and Indigenous ally Liz Baile, from the Northwest Territories to participate. Liz says: “With every module, I am humbled by everyone's willingness and efforts to share ideas about fears, hopes, equality, suppression, and tremendous responsibilities. I feel the tender care and thoughtfulness of each module, the collective wisdom, and ongoing support. God intends all of us to be models of hope. Every person has a unique role in ensuring justice for all. Listening and reading the diversity of my cohort's posts in this program have confirmed that for me. As my fellow sisters in Christ have expressed, we are in God’s good hands and company!   And as the Dene Elders say: “We must lean on each other to discover our gifts.”

Perhaps you believe strongly in our values but are simply not able to support us with a financial contribution at this time. Why not create a gift now to go to CWLF in the future?  Leaving a gift in your will, creating a trust or designating a beneficiary under your life insurance policy, RRSP or RRIF is what is known as “planned giving”.  Regardless of your circumstances, it allows you to support a cause you cherish, leave a legacy that reflects your values, and have a hand in making the world a better place!

There are many excellent reasons to consider planned giving:

  • FLEXIBLE – Gifts can be in any amount and are revocable if your situation changes.  Planned giving can be anonymous, structured over time or deferred, and can involve a variety of assets, including stock, securities, and property as well as cash.  It can be a percentage of the residue of your estate or a specified amount for a specified purpose. For many donors, planned giving enables them to make a larger gift after death than their finances would allow them to do during their lifetime.

  • MEANINGFUL – You can make a lasting statement about your values, pay tribute to a loved one, or create your own legacy to give back and give thanks. Whatever your reason for giving, whatever and however you decide to give, know that your gift is a lasting testament to the Christian value of stewardship.

  • STRATEGIC – Making a charitable donation as part of your will can reduce the taxes owed by your estate. You can give money to CWLF that would otherwise go to Revenue Canada! You can avoid probate fees by naming CWLF as beneficiary under your life insurance, RRSP or RRIF. Including a bequest clause adds a few minutes to the conversation with your lawyer or notary and a few lines to your will or codicil but the difference you make can be long-lasting and life-changing.

Program participant Liz Meneses used her learning of transformational leadership to make a difference. She created a program called Compassion in Action. “Almost a year and a half after I first pitched the concept, the Compassion in Action group finally came into fruition and is now an official employee interest group at my work (a provincial crown corporation). [This group] is a community of support for those who need help and want to help in the face of health challenges. This group takes sympathy and empathy one step further.”

You too, can help equip leaders who make a difference for many others. The ripple effect of your generosity is a legacy indeed! Consider a planned gift to CWLF today.
