Cecile Miller has lived on a farm in North East Margaree, NS all her life. She is a retired school teacher having taught students at various levels from grades two to twelve over thirty-three years. She studied at the NS Teachers College and Saint Francis Xavier University.
She graduated with a Diploma in Ministry from St. FX and a Diploma in the New Evangelization from the Atlantic School of Theology. She also completed the Antigonish Diocesan Lay Ministry Formation Program and is currently Director of Lay Formation for the Diocese of Antigonish.
She has been a member of The Catholic Women’s League of Canada since she became Charter President of her parish council in 1983. She became a life member of the CWL in 2000. She has served on parish, diocesan, provincial and national executives of the CWL.
She continues to be very active in her parish and diocese. She serves as an Extraordinary Minister of Communion, server, and member of the choir in her parish. She is a member of a team with two other laypeople and their pastor for their three-parish pastoral grouping. She also serves on the team for seven parishes in the Inverness North Zone.
Cecile made her Cursillo in 1979 and has been active in Cursillo and Challenge (for ages 15-19) in her deanery. She is presently a spiritual advisor for the Cape Breton West Challenge Movement.
She trained to be a Christopher Leadership Course instructor and taught many courses.
She is chair of the Antigonish Diocesan Vocations Awareness and Appreciation Committee. She served as co-chair of the committee for the 175th anniversary of the Diocese (2018-19), and she is presently on the committee planning a Year of the Eucharist and a Eucharistic Congress for June 12-14, 2020.
Cecile likes the outdoors, enjoys helping out in the garden, snowshoeing, reading, and sewing.
She was appointed a director of the Catholic Women’s Leadership Foundation by the National CWL in June 2019.
